My name is Charlie Low, I'm a freelance web designer, amateur photographer, mushroom aficionado, musician and possibly more.?...
For those of you who are new to CharlieLow.com, this site contains a bunch of different stuff. I have moved all professional content to Low-Design.com. Now this site is dedicated to my personal self... Stories, Ideas and a gallery of many photos, most of which were taken in beautiful scenic Pacific Northwest spots, and many of which are of mushrooms... because I love mushrooms. Because mushrooms are so sweet.

Holy crap! Almost a year since my last post. Tee hee... So, Holly and I just finished a spring cleansing diet, you should read about it.

Ok, yea so maybe I've let charlielow.com slide a bit, sorry... my bad. It's just that I've got so much other stuff going on right now and a lot of it is computer related so often times, the last thing I want to do is sit back down at a computer after I get home from a long hard day at work and fix up my personal website. I'm working for a startup website called Care.com coding webpages. It's been about a month and a half and it's going really well... I love it, it's fun and a great learning experience, long hours, hard work. Check back soon, I promise I'll get some more content up here someday. I love you.

To any and all who are interested, an update:
Me and Holly now live in Boston... Somerville to be exact. If you've never driven the roughly 3,317 miles from Seattle to Boston (quick stop in Detroit), know it takes a while (we made it in 5 days) and is a bit taxing... especially when there's only 8 or 9 hours of sunlight and the threat of winter storms plus kitty in the back seat. The cat was suprisingly well behaved, though. We're still settling in but have already become very comfortable. It's nice to be back on the east coast but I miss my good friends in Seattle. We have a kitchen table, chairs, a butcher block island, 3 cutting borards, I have a desk and a bureau, our bed inflates, there is a kitty.
I need a job, some money, a Dewalt 18V cordless drill/driver, a circular saw, a jig saw, blades, bits, wood, screws, a truck, a couch, a comfy chair, some nice clothes (already got the haircut and shave).

OK! well, here we go...
I'm leaving Seattle the day after tomorrow and the time has come for me to unplug my computer. I'm shoveling all my stuff into boxes and bags and trash cans and getting ready to head out. I hope to see some people down at the owl 'n thistle wednsday night for a farewell beer round 9:30. After that, hasta later...
I'm sad to go, I'll miss my peoples here, but I'll be back one day, just like how I said I'd be back one day when I left Boston. I'm hella psyched for the road trip (despite having a puddy in the car). And of course, I'm wicked psyched to get back to Beantown. Wish me luck and for clear skies and cheap gas till we hit the Atlantic!

Halloween party was a success, thanks to all who showed. Lots of good costumes, colonel sanders was the best (thanks for the chicken). Trevor's baby is super cute, must get it from his mother (thanks for the cake). Robert Palmer girls, Dr. Seuss girls, cowgirls, girls in general... Goulet! We had Bob Ross and a mad scientist, gorillas and devils, Jimi Hendrix (where's my guitar, Santa), Flavor Flav, Jack Sparrow, Pipi... even Vern Fonk. Thanks!

Last night was my last Cactus shift. It’s the end of an era for me, I’m real sad to go. Good people, good times, good memories and all the rest. I hate saying goodbyes.
But looking toward the future, I’m pretty excited for new opportunities. Also, having some time off to gather myself and try to get rid of the bulk of my personal belongings is a necessary luxury and should prove useful and enjoyable. Anybody want to buy an ’87 Dodge Raider that needs a new engine?

2 days ago I went for my first exploratory venture into some unknown territory out near Index, WA. I did a little looking around for good mushrooming spots, just seeing what I could find, nothing too crazy since it's still pretty dry and all of the sudden it feels like summer again. I took some northwest forest roads up into the mountains aways and did a little hunting but found very few mushrooms. It was a little disappointing, but not that bad since some of the only mushrooms I did find were white chanterelles and yellow chanterelles which Holly and I had with pasta for dinner and with eggs for breakfast the next morning.
The next day Brandon and I went off in my Dodge Raider hoping to explore some of the north fork of the snoqualmie river and end up at Little Si for a hike. As we were getting off the highway, I noticed my car was smoking. I just had the radiator replaced last week ($400) so I was a bit suprised. We decided to skip the river and head straight to Little Si so not to chance getting stuck in the woods. We did the hike while the car cooled down and when we got back, we decided to try to drive to Seattle. We didn't make it.
Holly was nice enough to come pick us up and my beloved Raider was left on the side of I90 with a blown head gasket, nice tires and a brand new radiator. I'm not going to cry or anything... but I'm kinda sad. That's the second car I've killed since I've been in Seattle.

And finally I've put up some new photo galleies under hikes and misc. outdoors... check em. Also, I'm very very very excited about the upcoming mushroom season which will coincide with my leaving work at cactus. The Pacific Northwest has some hella serious quality time with me, my camera and some brown paper bags to look forward to this next few months. Hella.

So I just got back to Seattle from my summer vacation trip home. Had a little trouble on a half pipe my first day (thought I was Tony Hawk) … sprained wrist, 7 stitches in the chin, concussion… bla bla bla… After that I had a nice relaxing week on the cape. Headed to NJ to visit with Holly’s dad and see where she grew up. Then off to PA to visit with Holly’s mom and relax by the Delaware. Back to Boston to see my mom and siblings, visit friends and all that. Good times.

I've just had my ears professionally cleaned at the doctor's office, with a high-pressure water pick and sucky thing. Never have I gone somewhere seeking help for something that was driving me (and those around me) crazy, and left feeling 100% better. Smile all on the face and everything. I can hear, swim, etc. the pain is gone! I think it's a standard procedure most doctors offices offer, just call them up. Without insurance it ended up costing like $140 (a little steep, but considering the situation [see below], I would have paid more).

My %$@%& ear is still totally blocked and it's driving me insane... pressure... pain... frustrating echo of my own voice.
I appreciate and am thankfull for my good health, imagine if i only had one leg!

as you can see, I've recently updated the look of my site as well as much of the content. It's not really ready.. but...... I just couldn't wait any longer, I just had to put it up so I could start getting feedback and fixing stuff. PLEASE! contact me and let me know what you think.. like or dislike. and if you notice anything blaringly screwed up let me know about that too. sometimes things look different on different computers.
anyways.... I've got big plans and lots of (what I consider to be) great ideas.. . I've been burying my nose in web design books for the greater part of the rainy season here in seattle, drinking lots of coffee and staring at the computer. please keep checking back for new content. I'm also getting a nice new digital camera, so you can expect many new image galleries and much nicer design
ok...?
